Literary Elements in Short Stories

We have discussed that a short story is just like a novel with the same elements: Plot, Characters, Settings, Conflicts, Themes....and more elements we haven't yet discussed. The difference is that a short story is a shortened story.

Becoming a grade level reader means, understanding the different types of writing and reading and being able to manage all of it. It means that readers understand that all reading demands: decoding of new words, understanding of vocabulary, being able to track and keep track of the story, and understanding how the elements of the story help to create a dynamic story that engages the reader.
