What is Fiction?

Fiction is prose writing, written or spoken language in its ordinary form, about imagined events and characters. Prose writing differs from poetry in that it does not depend on verses, meters or rhymes for its organization and presentation.

Every fiction story has literary elements, those parts of the story that have to be there for a story to be a story.

A short story is defined as:

"a story with a fully developed theme but significantly shorter and less elaborate than a novel."

That means that to be a short story, you need to have specific parts that are included. They are:

Setting
Theme
Conflict
Characters
Plot

You will visit the site below and read over the page as a team. Then you will each write the definition for each of the elements of fiction in a short story.
