Following Directions.....How Important Is It?

Many people find that they barely read or never read directions. They think and believe they can outsmart the test, the directions to put things together, the medicine labels that tell us how much medicine to take, and the tax code when doing their taxes. Oftentimes, this results in poor test results, extra parts left over after assembling the item, taking too much/too little medicine, and making costly mistakes on taxes, causing all sorts of problems with the federal tax agency, the IRS.

Today's task is to watch a video and follow the visual and spoken directions and try to replicate the knots. Then you will pair up or work alone, to write the directions to teach someone who has no idea of how to create the knot, to be able to do so after reading your step by step directions.

Welcome To My Reading and Writing Class-Integrated

Welcome to my class. This will be an exciting year. We will be working to improve your reading and writing skills. This is a class designed to build your knowledge in Language Arts so you will be able to improve your reading and writing skills.

You are the captain of your ship. You decide how to navigate your journey. As your instruction and skills will be guided by your own learning needs, you are an active participant in your own learning. You are middle school level students and are expected to be responsible for your own learning and learning decision making. You will be expected to behave appropriately. The two rules that guide my classroom are Respect and Responsibility. You are expected to respect others, the equipment and the materials. You are expected to be responsible for your behavior, learning, and interactions with others. You will have homework in this class. Again, the goal is to get you ready for the Language Arts classrooms for next year, and they get homework every night!

Welcome aboard, it's going to be a fantastic journey!
